Welcome to the conversation. We love hearing what you think — and the team reads every comment. To keep this space useful, our moderators will quietly remove comments that aren't in the spirit of the conversation. That's it.
What gets removed
Our moderators step in quietly when a comment isn't in the spirit of the conversation. The bar is judgment, not a checklist — but in practice, here's what tends to come down:
- Spam.Promotional posts, link drops, and copy- paste comments that don't engage with the episode.
- Harassment. Personal attacks, slurs, threats, or comments aimed at silencing other readers rather than engaging with what they said.
- Off-topic.Comments that have nothing to do with the episode or article they're posted under. We err generous — tangents are fine — but if it reads as drive-by, it comes down.
How removal works
Removed comments show up as [removed by moderator]with no explanation. Replies to a removed comment stay visible — the conversation around it isn't erased. We don't reach out individually about removals; if you think yours came down by mistake, email us through the contact page and we'll take a look.
